BEREA, OH - The Cleveland Browns have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agents WR Kenny Britt, OL J.C. Tretter and OL Kevin Zeitler.
“Our approach was to be very targeted heading into free agency,” said Executive Vice President of Football Operations Sashi Brown in a statement went to WTAM 1100.. “Dan Saganey, Glenn Cook and our pro personnel staff did an outstanding job working with our coaches to identify players that fit our scheme. Chris Cooper was great about finding common ground in working on the contracts. The free agency process is a collaborative effort and we are excited to add these three players to our roster, as we feel they match the identity of the team we are trying to build.”
Britt is 6-3, 223 pounds and entering his ninth NFL season out of Rutgers. Originally selected by Tennessee in the first round of the 2009 draft, Britt has appeared in 104 games and registered 309 receptions for 4,881 yards and 30 touchdowns. He spent five seasons with the Titans (2009-13) and the past three (2014-16) with the Rams. Britt has led his team in receiving yards five times, including each of the past three seasons. His 15.8 yards per reception average is tied for seventh in the NFL since he entered the league in 2009. In 2015, he finished second in the NFL with an 18.9 yards per reception average. Britt led the Rams in receptions (68), receiving yards (1,002) and receiving touchdowns (five) in 2016. His reception and yardage totals were career highs. In 2010, he led the Titans with a career-high nine touchdown catches.
Tretter is 6-3, 307 pounds and entering his fifth NFL season out of Cornell. Originally selected by Green Bay in the fourth round of the 2013 draft, Tretter has appeared in 31 games with 10 starts. He has seen action at center, left guard, left tackle and right tackle during his career, but all of his regular season starts have come at center. He opened the first seven games last season for Green Bay before a knee injury ended his season. The Packers finished in the top eight in the NFL in total offense during three of his four seasons with the club.
Zeitler is 6-4, 315 pounds and entering his seventh NFL season out of Wisconsin. Originally selected by Cincinnati in the first round of the 2012 draft, Zeitler has appeared in 72 games with 71 starts, all at right guard. He helped the Bengals to two division titles and four postseason appearances. Zeitler helped open holes for the Bengals to record 79 rushing touchdowns since 2012, the fourth most in the NFL during that span. Last season he started all 16 games and was the only Bengal to play every offensive snap.
