(Cleveland) - Now that Sammy’s has closed its doors, other restaurants and caterers are looking to help fill the void.
Fans of the popular Playhouse Square eatery were stunned by the closing message posted on Sammy’s website. Workers were told Monday that Sammy’s was closing after more than 30 years in several locations.
The current Playhouse Square location opened recently and booked weddings and catered big events. So what happens to those clients?
According to Sammy’s website, “We are currently in negotiations with a local caterer to transition our existing clients.“
Paul Ertel is the general manager of Windows on the River. He tells Newsradio WTAM 1100 they’re willing to hire extra people if folks want them to take over scheduled Sammy’s events.
Ertel also had high praise for Sammy’s, saying they “set the bar”.
As for the catering climate in Cleveland, Ertel says things are strong. He says the new Convention Center and Medical Mart are opening more opportunities.
