(Beachwood) - Great news for Orange Police Officer Rovert Rosic.

The 20-year-veteran was eleased from MetroHealth Medical Center just hours after being lifeflighted there after an accident on I-271 Thursday.

Ptl. Rosic is now resting comfortable at home. According to Orange Police, he and his family would like to thank the Greater Cleveland area for their support and for respecting his privacy during this difficult time.

The other vehicle involved in the MVA is a 2013 white Dodge Avenger with New Jersey Plates.  The vehicle was driven by 84-year-old Eugene R. Ottow of Parma Heights. Ottow remains at Hillcrest Hospital in critical but stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing and no formal charges have been filed at this time.

The I-271 northbound local lanes were closed for several hours Thursday at Harvard Avenue in Orange due to the accident.

Police say Officer Rosic was struck by a vehicle while performing duties outside of his cruiser.

Metro Lifeflight was requested by Paramedics shortly after arrival. Officer Rosic was then transported to Metrohealth Medical Center.
