(Columbus) - The 160th Ohio State Fair shattered the 12-day attendance record with an estimated 903,824 visitors. That's an 8% increase over the old record of 850,218 set in 2004.
"We had such beautiful weather throughout the 12 day run it really made it a wonderful time to try and enjoy the fair," said spokesperson Alicia Shoults.
In addition to its record-setting attendance, the 2013 Ohio State Fair also saw a 10 percent increase in youth participation and records fall in the Sale of Champions. Overall that event generated $344,000, including $267,400 for the Youth Reserve Program.
Midway ride sales were up 17 percent while food and beverage sales saw a 10 percent boost over last year.
