(Middleburg Hts.) - A teenaged boy in Middleburg Heights is being applauded after finding a long-haired, Persian cat frozen to Ivy Lane Monday morning.

The cat became stuck to the pavement on the side of the road and may have been in that capacity overnight until the boy stumbled upon the animal as he was headed to meet his grandmother for breakfast.

Middleburg Heights Animal Control Officer Laura Takacz says the boy called the city alerting it to the fact the cat was frozen to the road.

Takacz says the boy stayed with the animal until she got there and was able to free the cat and take him to Big Creek Pet Hospital.

The 3-4 year old neutered cat is now at the city kennel where he will go up for adoption if no one claims him in the next week.
