(Avon) - This has been a cheerleading season for local teams training at the Tumbles & Cheers athletic facility in Avon.

The Ohio Extreme All-Stars has become the only all-girl team in Ohio to receive a paid bid to The Cheerleading Worlds™ Championship (the Olympics equivalent for All-Star Cheerleading).

The Small Senior 5 division team was awarded up to $25,000 to participate in the global event, April 26 to 28 at ESPN's Wide World of Sports in Walt Disney World.

The Cheerleading Worlds is produced by The International All Star Federation and the United States All Star Federation.

Heather Zidek owns the Tumbles & Cheers training facility in Avon and says the girls are pumped up and ready to take on teams from around the globe. They have been practicing since July.

Zidek says there a send off party today, April 23 at 8:30 p.m. for anyone who would like to see Ohio Extreme All-Stars perform. The gym is located at 1482 Lear Industrial Parkway.

Zidek says the final rankings will be made public on Monday.
