(Lucasville) - Harry Mitts, Jr. has paid the ultimate price for his crime.  The condemned inmate was executed Wednesday morning in Lucasville.

In 1994 Mitts was convicted of the aggravated murders of Garfield Heights police officer Sgt. Dennis Glivar and John Bryant in Cuyahoga County.

The Ohio Parole Board recommended August 27 that the condemned killer be executed as scheduled. Gov. John Kasich denied a request for executive clemency last week.

Mitts shot his neighbor, John Bryant, near his apartment complex near East 88th Street. Police say it was a racially motivated crime.

Mitts then got into a shootout with responding police. Sgt. Dennis Glivar was killed and Lt. Thomas Kaiser and Officer John Mackey were wounded.

A jury convicted Mitts on two counts of aggravated murder and sent him to death row. Mitts is scheduled to be executed at 10:00 AM at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville.
