(Lorain County) - About 11 people spent the night at Fields United Methodist Church in North Ridgeville, after being evacuated from their homes during Monday night's storm.
Rev. Tom Joyce says all had a comfortable night, with church members cooking a full breakfast for them this morning.
Among those evacuated was Dan Carl, who tells Newsradio WTAM 1100 that the first floor of his condo quickly filled with water when the storm hit. Carl reports that he lost a lot of personal items, and estimate that the cleanup will take months.
Clean up is underway in many parts of Lorain County, with North Ridgeville's High and Middle schools closed because of flood damage.
The Metroparks Columbia Reservation is closed because water from the nearby West Branch of the Rocky River flooded the visitor center, the grounds, and the parking lot. The Metroparks Al Feiler says he has never seen anything like this before.
