(Rocky River)  Coach Pat Hopkins sounded absolutely elated as he spoke with Newsradio WTAM 1100's Judy Thompson, from the team bus heading back to Columbus.

The girls' soccer team beat Granville Friday afternoon by a score of 3-1 for the state title.

It was something of a nail-biter.  The team had an early lead, but had to fight to come back during the second half.

It's the first state title for the team since 1927.

Coach Hopkins says the girls are exhausted, but excited and proud.

He thanks the Rocky River community for all the support and encouragement, which helped propel the team to statewide victory.
