(Parma) - The Cuyahoga County Public Library is shortening the loan period for materials from 3 weeks to 2 weeks because of difficult budget conditions.
With state funding reductions, and a decline in property tax revenue, the library does not have as much money to purchase new materials in the same quantities as they had in the past.
Library spokeswoman Hallie Rich said it’s an effort to prevent long wait times for materials. They don’t want customers to have to wait months for the items they need.
Rich told Newsradio WTAM 1100, to make sure items are circulating in a timely fashion, the loan period is being shortened to two weeks, to get materials into customers hands more quickly.
Library spokeswoman Hallie Rich said they don’t want customers to have to wait months for popular items to become available.
The new policy takes effect on September 2nd.
