Tween Bullied Over Being A Swiftie Starts Jiu-Jitsu “Bullyproof Program”

In Sacramento, California, a 10-year-old girl named Sadie Cliff started learning jiu-jitsu after being hit by a boy at school for wearing a Taylor Swift shirt. The incident occurred during band class when the boy slapped her because he was upset about the 49er’s Super Bowl loss and Sadie just so happened to be wearing a t-shirt featuring Swift’s boyfriend, Kansas City’s Travis Kelce.

After the incident, Sadie's mom chose to focus on boosting her daughter's spirits with supportive messages. Then jiu-jitsu instructor Jake Barber reached out to offer to sponsor Sadie's training through the Gracie Bullyproof program. He believes in teaching kids to assert themselves verbally and to use physical self-defense only as a last resort, aiming for both parties to walk away unharmed.

In a demonstration, Sadie showcased how she learns to neutralize threats and control situations through jiu-jitsu techniques until help arrives. Barber explains that their program focuses on neutralizing threats without resorting to violence, allowing kids like Sadie to defend themselves effectively. Following the incident, her mother is concentrating more on empowering her daughter and helping to build her self-confidence.
