Woman Beats Cancer, Accepts High School Sweetheart’s Proposal On Same Day

Angelica May, a 27-year-old woman from North Carolina, recently finished her last chemotherapy session for stage-two triple-negative breast cancer. After completing her treatment, she was surprised by her high school sweetheart, Imeek Watkins, with a marriage proposal.

The heartwarming moment took place at the Novant Health Zimmer Cancer Institute in Wilmington, where loved ones surrounded May. Watkins presented her with 10 roses, symbolizing the decade they've spent together, before getting down on one knee and asking for her hand in marriage.

The proposal was captured in a video posted on social media, showing May's emotional reaction as she tearfully accepted Watkins' proposal while their friends and family cheered them on. The bride-to-be expressed gratitude for the support of her medical team, who were reportedly involved in planning for the proposal. The moment was described as "amazing" for the couple and for the hospital, where the heartwarming event unfolded.
