Danny Ripepi Memorial Concert Will Benefit Contemporary Youth Orchestra

Key Bank State Theatre

CLEVELAND - The Danny Ripepi Memorial Concert is moving from Nautica Stage to Playhouse Square and will benefit the Contemporary Youth Orchestra. The announcement was made on Monday by the Ripepi family who tragically lost Danny when he was heading to work on September 24, 2020 when he was killed in a motor vehicle accident on I-480.

The concert will take place Wednesday, November 9, in the Key Bank State Theatre at Playhouse Square and will once again feature multi-Platinum recording artist Night Ranger, performing in collaboration with the Contemporary Youth Orchestra. The Contemporary Youth Orchestra is committed to the study and performance of exclusively contemporary and new orchestral music, with a focus on introducing students to careers in the creative arts industries. The Orchestra is in residence at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), Metro Campus and works in partnership with Tri-C Metro’s Center for Creative Arts. Through collaborative programming, they seek to address instrumental music education gaps in the Cleveland area. The full orchestra consists of 110 students ages 13-18 and is dedicated to performing professional level works by contemporary composers.

The concert, which is in its second year, is planned to be an annual celebration to benefit many causes throughout the Greater Cleveland Metropolitan area. Proceeds from the inaugural event in 2021 provided five police K9 unit grants. The following police departments received a Police K9 officer (dog), complete six-week training course at Excel K-9 Services located in Hiram, Ohio, K9 equipment and a tactical K9 vest: Brunswick, Cleveland, Euclid, Metro-Heath Medical Center, and Parma Heights.

Tickets to the event will go on sale to the general public on August 31st at www.playhousesquare.org or by phone 216-241-6000.
