Lena Waithe, Greg Berlanti & More To Be Honored By The Trevor Project

2018's TrevorLIVE New York, the annual ceremony hosted by the Trevor Project, will honor Emmy Award-winning screenwriter Lena Waithe, CW star Greg Berlanti and Managing Partner of global consulting firm McKinsey & Company Dominic Barton, as per a new press release sent out on Tuesday (April 24). 

For this year's affair, the three will be recognized for their commitment to supporting The Trevor Project's mission to provide crisis intervention services and end suicide among gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning young people. Waithe will receive the Hero Award, adding yet another accolade to her resume after her recent GLAAD Media Awards win as well as her Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series for her work on Master of None. "It's one of the greatest honors of my life to be honored by such a phenomenal organization like The Trevor Project," Waithe said in a statement. "The work that they do is invaluable to the community, and I hope to continue to do work that is worthy of this honor."

Greg Berlanti, who will also receive the Hero Award, is an expected recipient, particularly after his most recent directorial duty on Love, Simon, an adaptation of the acclaimed YA novel "Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda." Meanwhile, Barton, will receive the 20/20 Visionary Award, for being "a top management thinker and outspoken advocate for empowering talent to create long-term economic and social value."

Additional announcements, including the host and performer for the forthcoming ceremony, will be unveiled in the coming weeks. TrevorLIVE New York will take place on Monday (June 11) at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
