Ariana Grande's 'Sweetener' Era: The Reason Why Everything Is Upside Down

Ariana Grande - 'Sweetener' Album Cover Art

Since releasing her single "No Tears Left To Cry," Ariana Grande has been using upside down font, sharing upside down cover art, and more. In fact, everything in Ari's Sweetener era has been upside down, and it's been somewhat of a mystery ... until now.

Did Ari just like everything upside down because it looked cool? Maybe. But there's a reason for everything, and there's a real reason, with actual meaning, that you've been reading upside down words and viewing upside down images, and watching upside down music videos over the last few months. Ariana explained the whole upside down thing in a tweet while responding to a fan.

On Twitter, a fan asked Ariana how she came up with the upside down idea, and the pop star shared a story of how one of her best friends, Aaron, helped shed some light for her. She said, "I showed Aaron a photo and he was sitting opposite me and he said 'I even love it upsidedown' and that was kind of it for me at the time i had been feeling v 'upsidedown' for a while & the simplicity of that was like oh duh wow my bestie a genius. everything clicked after that."

So, there you have it. The real reason why everything in this Ariana Grande Sweetener era has been upside down.

Speaking of Sweetener, life has been pretty sweet for Ariana, and everything seems to right side up. She recently got engaged to her boyfriend over just over a month, Pete Davidson, her new album has just made available for pre-order, and she just released a brand new song off the album, her collaboration with Nicki Minaj called "the light is coming." Ari also recently teamed up with Nicki on a song for her album as well, called "Bed," as well as with Troye Sivan on their new single, "Dance To This."
