Backstreet Boys Celebrate 26 Years As A Band With Nostalgic Throwback Photo

An Evening With Backstreet Boys

The Backstreet Boys are 26 years strong!

The iconic boy band celebrated a major anniversary over the weekend, as Saturday (April 20) marked Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, AJ McLean, Howie Dorough, and Brian Littrell's 26th year together as a group. To honor the milestone, the five-piece posted a nostalgic throwback photograph from the '90s which shows the bandmates' early days as high schoolers-turned teenage heartthrobs.

"On this day in 1993 we became the Backstreet Boys. From performing in high school gyms to heading out on a world tour this summer (plus a #1 album!!), never could the five of us have imagined what the past 26 years would hold," the Backstreet Boys captioned the heartwarming picture. "Thank you all ❀ Here’s to many more years! #KTBSPA #BSB26."

The group, responsible for iconic songs like "Everybody," "I Want It That Way," and "Larger Than Life," formed in Orlando, Florida, on April 20, 1993. BSB went on to become one of the world's best-selling music artists, the best-selling boy band of all time, having sold over 130 million records globally. Twenty years after forming, BSB would receive a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame in April 2013.

In January 2019, BSB unveiled their first studio album in six years with DNA. The LP debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, becoming their first chart-topper since 2000's Black & Blue.

Since March 2017, the boys have been performing at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino as part of their years-long "Larger Than Life" Las Vegas residency, which wraps next Sunday (April 27).
