Nanny McPhee child star Raphael Coleman has died. He was 25.
The beloved actor and climate change activist passed away over the weekend, as confirmed in a statement from Coleman’s mother, Liz Jensen, and stepfather, Casten Jensen, via social media. "Rest in peace my beloved son Raphael Coleman, aka Iggy Fox. He died doing what he loved, working for the noblest cause of all,” Liz wrote on Twitter. “His family could not be prouder. Let’s celebrate all he achieved in his short life and cherish his legacy.”
According to Entertainment Tonight and per Jensen’s statement, Coleman reportedly died “suddenly when he collapsed while out on a run” on Friday (February 7). As of yet, his cause of death remains unknown.
"To die young. I guess there's nothing that makes you see death as unfair and meaningless as when a young person dies," Jensen wrote in a lengthy Facebook tribute. "It's life itself that's sabotaged. It just happened to my wife, Liz, whose youngest son, Raph of only 25, died last Friday."
"He collapsed without prior health problems in the middle of a trip and could not be restored. I got to know raph when he was six years old, and we were so close,” he continued. “When I think of Raph, I see something that will never die, a blunt of eternity, a light beam that lives forever in young people.”
You may remember Coleman most for this part as Eric Brown in the British-American comedy fantasy film NannyMcPhee. His other acting credits include It’s Alive, Edward’s Turmoil, and The Fourth Kind. In his lifetime, the performer also garnered two film accolades including the Best Young Actor from the British Independent Film Festival and Best Male Interpretation from the Brussels Short Film Festival in 2010.
