After overcoming stage 4 liver cancer following a transplant from his aunt, a two-year-old Ohio boy is thriving. Diagnosed last March when doctors discovered a cancerous mass in his liver, the boy, Crew, underwent multiple rounds of aggressive chemotherapy before receiving the transplant last summer, when his aunt, Taylor Dearth, was confirmed as a match.
After surgery, both Crew and Taylor recovered, and nine months later, he has completed his treatment. His family marked the milestone by ringing the bravery bell at Cleveland Clinic Children’s, celebrating the end of his cancer journey.
Crew’s mother, Nicole Dearth, describes the experience as overwhelming and calls his recovery a miracle, noting he now acts like a typical toddler. The family is sharing his story to raise awareness about childhood cancer and living organ donation, and Taylor is encouraging others to learn about donation and its potential impact.
