College Wrestlers Recovering After Fighting Off A Bear

Northwest College wrestlers Brayden Lowry, Kendell Cummings, August Harrison, and Orrin Jackson are all grateful for each other after a grizzly bear incident in Wyoming over the weekend.

Lowry and Cummings were apparently on the hunt for fallen antlers – and a bear was in the area. Lowry says he didn’t realize the animal was coming at them until it was right in his face.

That’s when Cummings stepped in “by yelling, grabbing at, and punching” the bear…which is when it turned its attention to him.

Finally, the bear gave up its struggle, and the injured men were able to escape, reuniting with their two other teammates, and called 911 for help.

Cummings was airlifted to a local hospital, where 60 staples were put in his head. Lowry was taken by ambulance and treated for a compound fracture in his left arm.

Lowry says “it’s a miracle” they were able to walk away.

But what a story to tell…
