Ryan Reynolds has sold Mint Mobile to T-Mobile for an eye-watering $1.35 billion. The hefty sum will be paid to Reynolds, and the other owners of Mint Mobile, in a combination of cash and T-Mobile stock. The full $1.35 billion will apparently be earned if Mint Mobile performs well after being acquired.
“We are so happy T-Mobile beat out an aggressive last-minute bid from my mom Tammy Reynolds as we believe the excellence of their 5G network will provide a better strategic fit than my mom’s slightly above-average mahjong skills,” Reynolds shared in a statement.
Reynolds will continue in his creative role, and Mint's founders will remain to manage the brand as well. T-Mobile reportedly plans to use Mint's direct-to-consumer marketing expertise to reach new customers while using its scale for cost efficiency.
