These days, there seems to be less and less for all of us to agree on. With that in mind, please remember something we can all rally behind…pizza is awesome. Hormel has done the research and found five pizza trends that 2023 has brought with it.
- “International flavors” have become a big thing with “culinary travelers,” with pizza influences from Thailand, Vietnam, and Mexico taking the big stage
- “Non-traditional ingredients” show a desire by pizza fans to experiment, with even pickles and ranch dressing gaining in popularity with the pizza crowd
- Cupping pepperoni is already big, but now cupping sausage is making its presence known
- Pizza fans are now fearlessly diving into spicier and more complex flavors
- Some are taking the cup-and-char approach to their pepperoni by baking half the pepperoni on the pizza and taking the other half and cooking it in a pan, and then placing the pan-pep on the finished pie to add different pepperoni experiences on the same pizza.
