Beachgoers in Australia are utterly perplexed as they find what looks to be the remains of a mermaid. Bobbi-Lee Oates says she thought she had stumbled upon a dead body while looking for a campsite, but quickly noticed the corpse had a long body, ribcage, and spine and seemed to be about six feet long. Oates adds, “It had a human-shaped skull with an elongated jawline, and hair similar to the color of a cow or kangaroo, but with hair missing in many places due to decomposition.”
Rob Deaville, chief at the Zoological Society of London, says it definitely looks like some sort of includes whale, orca, dolphin, or porpoise, though he adds, “I'm not familiar with the area nor which species are normally found there, so can't really take it any further than that.” As for whether or not Oates stumbled upon the real “Ariel” remains to be seen.
