“Barbie” director Greta Gerwig recently discussed her attempts to include a fart joke in her films, which she still hasn’t gotten to do apparently. Gerwig detailed this flatulence failure on IndieWire's “Filmmaker Toolkit” podcast.

Discussing the creation of her latest movie, "Barbie", Gerwig shared that she tried really hard to include what she calls a “fart opera.” However, their proposed “fart opera” didn’t make the final cut. “I thought it was really funny…that was not the consensus,” Gerwig says.

"We need to work [farting] into a more significant narrative moment next time," her editor Nick Houy suggests, so it would be harder to cut from a movie. Despite not having a fart joke, Barbie has somehow succeeded. The film has grossed almost half a billon dollars so far!
