A Florida woman is in even bigger trouble after dousing herself in Mountain Dew before authorities could collect a DNA sample from her. Nichole A. Maks, 35, was charged with tampering with evidence and resisting arrest and premeditated first-degree murder in the death of 79-year-old Michael Cerasoli. Firefighters were called to a home at around 1:45 a.m. July 1st after clothing had been lit on fire on the second floor. After putting the fire out, first responders found a beaten and stabbed Cerasoli lying facedown in a room spattered with blood. Cerasoli’s landlord told police that he had lived there with Maks, who they found afterward covered in blood and walking with a knife and a hammer. When asked about the weapons, police say Maks became “agitated” and demanded a lawyer. Police then returned with a warrant to test the blood on Maks to see if it matched Cerasoli’s DNA. But when cops gave her a can of Diet Mountain Dew she asked for, Maks “began to resist and poured the can of soda all over her body and hair… pulling away from officers in attempts to interfere with the possible evidence on [her] body,” according to the affidavit. Maks is now being held in Volusia County Jail without bond and is scheduled for a court appearance on September 5th.
