You’ve probably noticed all the heart-shaped boxes of chocolates filling store shelves, which can only mean Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. While the holiday seems to be for couples in love, being single may be easier in some parts of the country than others and new research tells us where.

  • WalletHub’s list of the Best and Worst States for Singles has just come out.
  • They ranked the states on 29 key indicators of dating-friendliess broken down into three main categories: dating opportunities, dating economics and romance & fun.
  • These include factors like number of single adults, online-dating opportunities, average price for beer and wine, average cost of movie tickets, price of a haircut, restaurants per capita and more.
  • So, where is the best place to be single? Florida takes that honor, coming in first for romance & fun and third for dating opportunities.
  • New York, fourth overall, is number one for dating opportunities, while Utah, 21st overall, is first for dating economics.
  • The state where you don’t want to be single is West Virginia, which is 48th for both dating opportunities and romance & fun.
