There are some good vibrations coming out of San Francisco these days. Good Vibrations Antique Vibrator Museum celebrates the history of self-pleasure devices with a collection that dates back to 1902. Back in the Victorian era (1837), “medically induced orgasms” were a form of medical care that was practiced to cure “female hysteria.” That medical practice then became more common on the home front with the advent of the vibrator in the early 19-hundreds. The museum also covers how they were discretely sold to the public to avoid obscenity laws by promoting them as ways to improve complexion, neck massagers, and anything else that might distract from making it known what they were really to be used for. As you might imagine, the Good Vibrations Museum also has one hell of a gift shop.
