In a collaboration no one saw coming, Plenty of Fish and Busch Light are teaming up to help singles reel in “the one.” The beer company and the dating app just announced they’ve worked together on a new Fish Pic Badge that fish-loving daters can show off on their Plenty of Fish profiles.

But why would they want to? The two brands are aware that photos of people holding fish on dating apps have turned into a bit of a joke over the last few years, but apparently research shows it could boost your chances on the app.

  • According to a survey of Plenty of Fish users, 25% of respondents are “more likely to message someone if their profile features a fish pic.”
  • Shannon Smith, director of PR for Plenty of Fish, says their research also shows that 67% of their users enjoy fishing and 70% would like to go fishing on a date.

The new Fish Pic Badge also promotes Busch Light’s limited-edition Fishing Cans, so there’s that. But the companies are also rewarding some lucky users who add the badge. From now through March 24th, U.S. Plenty of Fish users who are 21 or older and have the new Fish Pic Badge could win a prize bundle that includes a three-month subscription to the dating app, first-date money, and a pair of Busch Light fishing t-shirts.
