You may soon be paying for meals with a smile now that facial recognition payment technology is gaining traction. Companies like PopID have inked deals with major players like JP Morgan to use these systems at restaurants and retailers across the US.
All people have to do to use the newfangled tech is to register with a selfie, and then look into a camera to verify their identity. This completes the transaction in mere seconds! While using sensitive info has sparked legal issues over alleged illegal data collection, pilot programs like Mastercard's Brazilian trial show that many are embracing the new payment option.
