Karen Ashmore, 56, was bitten by a spider, leading to a severe infection that caused a large hole in her stomach and sepsis.
Initially dismissing the bite as heat rash, she later noticed the wound becoming bigger, sore, and itchy. Her condition worsened, so she rushed to the hospital where doctors found an abscess caused by the spider venom, and she needed emergency surgery. The operation left her with an open wound, about the size of a quarter.
“I never thought a spider could cause this sort of damage. Sepsis is deadly. I could’ve easily lost my life,” she explained. Karen now urges others to seek medical help immediately if they notice a suspicious spot.
