- Zoocasa used Zumper’s June Rental Report for the average two-bedroom rental prices and calculated mortgage payments using an 8% down payment, 30-year mortgage at a 6.78% fixed rate.
- The city with the largest gap between monthly rent and mortgage payments is New York City, at $781, but NYC also has one of the highest average rents and mortgage payments in the country.
- Chicago has the second-biggest difference between monthly rent and mortgage payments, at $609.
- The average two-bedroom rent in the Windy City is $27-hundred and the average monthly mortgage payment is $2,091.
