Wonder how your sex life stacks up to everyone else’s? In honor of World Sexual Health Day (September 4th), a new study is giving us a peek into the sex lives of people around the world. And it turns out, Gen Z is having less sex, fewer partners and fewer relationships than older generations.

Researchers with The Kinsey Institute at Indiana University analyzed data from more than 33-hundred users of the dating app Feeld in 71 different countries. Participants range in age from 18 to 75 and were asked about “their sexual and relationship attitudes and behaviors, as well as their experience.” The study reveals:

  • Both Gen X and millennials are having the most sex, five times a month, on average.
  • You might think the youngest people would be getting the most action, but zoomers are actually tied with baby boomers. Both Gen Z and boomers have sex an average of three times a month.
  • More of Gen Z participants are single than other generations, half of them report being single, compared to a fifth of millennials, Gen X and boomers.
  • Gen Z also seems to be a little more adventurous in bed, with 50% of them reporting to have discovered a new kink since joining Feeld. That’s more than the 49% of millennials, 39% of Gen X and 33% of boomers who say the same.
  • But Gen Z is also almost twice as likely to fantasize about monogamy than older generations in the study.
  • Researchers suggest this could be because “older adults have simply had more practice with monogamy, and some may have found that it is not for them.” Their other theory is that millennials, Gen X and baby boomers “may have just found that after a long period of monogamy, they have a new craving for sexual novelty and newness.”
