Marianne Peters, an Ohio homeowner, faced complaints for setting up her annual "Nightmare on Bibury Street" Halloween display earlier than usual due to her husband's cancer treatment. Starting in early August, Peters needed extra time because her husband, diagnosed a year ago, is limited in his activities post-chemotherapy. “You could’ve come to me and said something like, ‘Hey, why?’ and I would’ve explained to them why I did it so early,” Peters explained.

Despite some community complaints and two contacts from the city, Fairfield officials confirmed she wasn't breaking any rules. Peters, who spends over 100 hours setting up the display, expressed that the early setup was necessary given her husband’s condition. Each Halloween, she anticipates around 300 visitors to her free attraction. She remains committed to the tradition and is touched by the support she has received on social media.
