The Chester Zoo, in the UK, has done something that many are simply terrified by. The zoo happily announced that they had “more than 10K breeding female fen raft spiders” and that they’d just completed “the biggest mating season on record.” To celebrate the accomplishment, the zoo released thousands of the arachnids back into the wild. The average person won’t have a problem spotting them, as they can grow to the size of an adult human’s hand. Back in 2010, this particular spider was on the verge of extinction and they pose no threat to humans.
