You’ve probably heard of the BBL, but did you know there’s now a “face BBL?” The BBL stands for Brazilian butt lift, a popular cosmetic procedure that’s now inspired a new term for the hottest thing in plastic surgery for the face. They both involve fat transfers, and the “face BBL” is becoming more popular thanks to the current “undetectable era” trend in plastic surgery.
The term “face BBL” has been trademarked by plastic surgeon Dr. Benjamin Caughlin and while it has a buzzy name, the fat transfers to the face that it describes really aren’t new. They’ve long been used to boost volume, but people like them better than fillers because the result looks natural and understated. Plus, fillers are easy to overdo and require more maintenance.
"It's just taking fat out from one portion of the face, putting fat in another portion of the face," Caughlin explains. "It's really to create these peaks and valleys within the face." By rearranging the fat in the face, he contours the face, creating the appearance of sharper cheekbones and a more defined jawline. While the face BBL may be more versatile than fillers and people love the way they look afterwards, they can be pricey. Caughlin’s face BBLs cost around $15-thousand, and that’s not counting any extra procedures clients want done along with them.
