Disney World is giving the beloved Carousel of Progress a huge refresh, with the iconic Magic Kingdom attraction set to close in July and reopen in early 2027 with completely reimagined scenes.
The updated version will still celebrate innovation and family life, but now guests will travel through the 1960s moon landing, a neon-filled Halloween night in 1985, the chaos of New Year’s Eve 1999, and even a futuristic off-planet home complete with helpful robots.
One of the biggest additions will be a brand-new Audio-Animatronic Walt Disney inspired by his 1964 World’s Fair television special, alongside carefully recreated vintage props.
Disney says the overhaul is part of a larger effort to modernize classic attractions while still honoring the nostalgic heart that longtime fans love, and yes, the family dog Rover is staying put.
