Over the past twenty years Nicki Minaj has been many things an Off-Broadway actress, a waitress, an office manager, a struggling rapper and of course eventually the reigning Queen of Hip Hop.
But there’s one thing she hasn’t been that entire time until now, single.
Nicki talked to Elle about how liberating it is being on her own for the first time since she was 15 years old.
"I remember feeling like I could do anything at one time in my life," she says. "And somewhere along the line, I just started second guessing myself, for whatever reason. As soon as I realized that I could actually live and breathe, and eat and sleep, and walk and talk without having a boyfriend, something clicked in me. Becoming single was one of the things that made me feel strong and powerful."
Nicki’s new album Queen is drops August 10th.
