When planning a wedding, many couples like to add touches that really speak to who they are and what they love. And while that’s all well and good, one couple is being blasted for spending their money doing that, instead of actually feeding their guests.
In a Reddit post to the “Am I The A-Hole” forum, which has since been taken down, a user who describes themselves as a “huge Disney fan,” explains that they just had their “dream wedding,” which included a visit from Mickey and Minnie, but later an aunt started posting about how disappointed she was in the wedding, and other guests took her side. The problem? The couple didn't feed their guests so they could pay for the characters.
“The cost to have both Minnie and Mickey for a good chunk of time (30 minutes) was almost exactly what our parents allotted for our catering budget,” the OP writes, “so we scheduled an appearance during our first dance and our wedding photos, forgoing served food (though there were PLENTY of facilities at the venue where people could eat…).”
- A screenshot of the post soon began trending on Twitter, with Minnie trending, and, as you can imagine, folks had some harsh opinions about the couple opting for the characters rather than food.
- “Imagine sitting at a table with no food watching two weirdos in costumes pose for pictures with Mickey and Minnie Mouse,” one person tweeted.
- “I love Disney — but damn you are rude,” one Reddit user wrote, while another added, “Don’t host a party if you can’t take care of your guests.”
- Finally, another noted, “This is the social contract, people: you can have whatever kind of wedding you want, but your guests get to gossip about it as much as they want,” adding, “You give them Mickey and Minnie instead of food, and you’re shocked they have opinions?”
