Ways To Spice Up Your Sex Life During The Holidays

With everything going on during the holidays, is your sex life taking a hit? You’re not alone as research from Stanford University finds that people have less sex during December. And that means they’re missing out on health benefits sex brings, like decreasing levels of cortisol, the stress hormone.

Sexpert Kate Taylor shares how to spice up your sex life this holiday season:

  • Smash that avocado - Serve up a breakfast in bed with a specific menu. Avocado toast because avocados promote good circulation and a healthy heart, which is essential for sex; Seeds and nuts that are full of healthy fats to lift your mood and increase libido; Coffee, since it’s been shown to boost female sex drive; And fresh berries, which contain zinc that boosts libido.
  • Get a room - Not much is hotter than hotel sex, so if you can’t get away with your partner, book a room for a few hours during the day and make the most of it.
  • Make a “sexmas” calendar - Wrap up 12 tiny, naughty treats and hide one under your lover’s pillow every night. Think fun and funny, like edible undies, a blindfold, handcuffs and sex dice.
  • Kiss with a candy cane - The Smell and Taste Institute reports that men find women more desirable when they taste like peppermint, so suck on a candy cane before you smooch under the mistletoe. And make sure you kiss for at least 30 seconds because it releases a flood of feel-good chemicals in the brain.
  • Drink mulled wine - This festive beverage made from warm red wine mixed with spices and sugar can increase blood circulation and has been shown to increase a woman’s libido. But stick to one glass, as the positive effects decrease the more you drink.
  • Load up on citrus - Oranges, grapefruit, tangerines and other citrus fruits can help your sex life because they contain hesperidin, a phytonutrient that increases blood flow. Plus, citrus is high in vitamin C, which helps ease stress, and less stress is always better for getting frisky.
  • Wear socks in bed - Cold feet decrease your arousal, so keep those feet warm in sex socks.
  • Dress up as Santa and Mrs. Claus - Men and women are seen as more sexually desirable and attractive when they wear red, research has found, so get matching Santa and Mrs Claus outfits and find out if you’re on the naughty or nice list this year.
