In Germany, the Archdiocese of Cologne has seen “mass attempts to access porn websites on church-supplied computers.” Church leadership was made aware of the issue just over a year ago, and it’s believed that 15 church employees are the main culprits. Between May and June of 2022, there were “around 1,000 attempts” to access pages “that were blocked by a protective filter” because of “undesirable content and potential threats to IT security”…and most of those issues came from porn sites. Though nothing “illegal” was accessed, or attempted to be accessed, all data collected from the IT department has been turned over to investigators.
