As we inch closer to fall, Starbucks fans have been waiting to hear that those three little letters - PSL - are back. And today is that day. Starbucks has announced that the Pumpkin Spice Latte has returned.
Believe it or not, it’s the 20th year the coffee chain has offered the PSL, which makes the beverage as old as “Finding Nemo!” As Starbucks’ most popular seasonal drink, most folks are familiar with what’s in the Pumpkin Spice Latte, but for those who don’t, it’s made with espresso, steamed milk and the flavor combination of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. It’s topped with whipped cream and pumpkin spices and is available hot, iced or blended.
The PSL is joined on the fall menu by some returning favorites, as well as some new items:
- Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea Latte - This new drink was inspired by a popular customer and barista customization, according to Starbucks. It combines a chai tea latte with pumpkin cream cold foam and a dusting of pumpkin spice.
- Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew - Back again for the fifth year is this fan-favorite, which is Starbucks Cold Brew sweetened with vanilla syrup and topped with pumpkin cream cold foam, along with a sprinkle of pumpkin spice.
- Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso - Another new item, this one combines Starbucks Blonde Espresso with “touches of apple, cinnamon and brown sugar” then it’s shaken and topped with oatmilk.
- Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato - It first appeared on menus in 2021 and it’s back again this year. This espresso beverage features layers of apple, cinnamon and brown sugar, along with a spiced apple drizzle and it’s available hot, iced or blended.
- Baked Apple Croissant - New this year, this sweet treat is made with layers of croissant dough wrapped around a warm apple filling and topped with sugar before baking.
- Also in the bakery case this fall are the Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin, an Owl Cake Pop and the Pumpkin & Pepita Loaf.
- Starbucks Reserve locations will also get to try new drinks including the Starbucks Reserve Pumpkin Spice Latte, a Pumpkin Spice Whiskey Barrel-Aged Iced Latte and Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini, and Princi bakery items like Pumpkin Maritozzo (an Italian cream bun) and Pumpkin Spice Cake.
