As we all know, cold winter air and water make ice…and walking on ice can be treacherous. Never once have any of us been given an official tutorial on how to properly walk on ice…so here you go…this from the Mayo Clinic. Take a cue from the penguins by:
- Keeping your knees bent slightly so you’re in an “active position” and “ready to react” if needed
- Keep your feet pointed outward with your arms at your sides to help with balance
- Walk with a “flat foot” or with a “shuffle step”
- Keep your center of gravity over your feet by “leaning forward just a little”
It doesn’t guarantee you won’t bite it, but it’ll make you more stable…lessening your chance of slipping, getting injured, and possibly ending up on someone else’s TikTok feed.
