Working out to stay healthy and fit isn’t easy, but it’s not just good for burning calories and building stronger muscles, it turns out, it’s great for your sex life, too. New research reveals that some Americans actually exercise to have better sex and even break up with those who don’t.

A new survey from Zing Coach of 2-thousand U.S. adults asks about their exercise - or sexercise - routines and how it affects their sex lives and finds:

  • Not having good stamina or flexibility is a major turn-off for a lot of people, as 56% admit they’ve dumped, or considered dumping, a partner over bad sexual performance.
  • For better sexual stamina, 21% do cardio and about a third (30%) do lower body workouts, planks or Kegels.
  • To improve flexibility in bed, 40% do stretching exercises and 17% do yoga or pilates.
  • Regular workouts not only improve performance, 52% say it increases their sex drive.
  • Sex itself burns calories, as well as strengthening muscles, reducing stress, and improving sleep.
  • It’s such a good workout, 5% of those polled count sex toward their daily exercise goal and another 5% skip their workout after having sex.
  • Sex helps men burn an average of 4.2 calories per minute and women 3.1 calories per minute.
