Doctors are warning people about a dangerous trend where tapeworm egg pills are being sold on the dark web as a quick way to lose weight. Tapeworms are parasites that can grow up to 30 feet long in the human gut and cause weight loss by eating food inside the body. Dr. Bernard Hsu, a US oncologist, shared a story about a woman who bought these pills and experienced serious health issues after taking them.

The woman, known as "TE," was struggling to lose weight through diet and exercise when she came across an ad for the tapeworm pills. She decided to take two capsules and saw some weight loss, but also began suffering from stomach cramps and bloating. After passing out and experiencing severe headaches, she finally went to the hospital but didn't tell doctors about the tapeworm pills.

Doctors later discovered that TE had ingested two types of tapeworms, one of which had traveled outside her gut and caused brain lesions. Thankfully, she was treated with medications to remove the parasites and reduce brain inflammation. Dr. Hsu warned viewers, "Weight loss with diet and exercise is much less risky than letting organisms live inside of you."
