Northeast Ohio communities are opening warming centers as dangerously cold weather approaches.

Lorain has activated its extreme weather protocol and is directing anyone needing shelter to call for coordinated entry, with space available at St. Elizabeth's Community Center and the Haven Center.

Akron is also opening its emergency overnight shelter at the Peter Maurin Center through the weekend.

Officials say additional sites may be added as temperatures continue to fall.
