Two Florida deputies are facing suspension without pay after they arrested 61-year-old James Hodges after they mistook the blind man’s cane for a gun. The officers say they originally thought he had a “silver pistol with a white grip in his back right pocket,” but by the time they identified it as a collapsible “navigational aid,” they had already arrested him, and wound up charging him with resisting an officer. Sheriff Mark Hunter said the two officers have been found to have made “policy violations.”
