Letâs face it, one of the best parts of the holidays? COOKIES! But which it âthe best?â It depends where you live â and thatâs why the folks at Guilty Eats have compiled a list of the top Christmas cookies in all 50 states. If you donât find your state below, the full list can be found HERE.
- Alaska: Chocolate Linzers â Not familiar? These are âsandwichâ cookies with filling usually made with chocolate or raspberry jam.
- California: Biscotti â An Italian classic flavored with anise (though there are also plenty of other flavors like chocolate chip!).
- Connecticut: Snickerdoodle â The state cookie of Connecticut, this is basically a cinnamon-y sugar cookieâŠthough some recipes include brown butter.
- Florida: Key Lime Pie Sandwich Cookies â Key lime crĂšme between two mini sugar cookiesâŠneed we say more?
- Georgia: Stuffed Peanut Butter Cookies â Traditional peanut butter cookies stuffed with more peanut butter.
- Hawaii: White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies â A spin on the traditional chocolate chip. This oneâs made with macadamia nuts and white chocolate chips or chunks.
- Iowa: Swedish Kringla â Fluffy and sweet, and made with plenty of sugar and butter, they can be eaten frosted or unfrosted.
- Louisiana: Palmiers â A very light layered cookie made from butter and sugar that originated in France.
- Mississippi: Mississippi Mud Pie Cookies â Yup⊠made with the same ingredients as the pie â brownies, chocolate custard and a chocolate or vanilla flavored base.
- New Jersey: Classic Italian âRainbow Cookiesâ â Itâs hard to call these cookiesâŠbecause theyâre made with three layers of almond-flavored cake with apricot or raspberry jam in the middle then dipped in dark chocolate. But they are yummy!
- Ohio: Classic Buckeye Delights â Of course we had to talk about Buckeyes when we got to the state of Ohio! Buckeyes aren't only the name of one of Ohio's beloved sports teams, but a super delicious and very rich peanut butter and chocolate dessert. To take it down just a bit, bale it into a sugar cookie or cereal base...delish!
- Tennessee: CrĂšme de Menthe Cookies â Sugar cookies on the outside, crĂšme de menthe-flavored cream on the inside with chocolate ganache frosting on top.
- Washington: Santa Sugar Cookies â A classic heart-shaped Christmas sugar cookie turned upside down with brown M&Ms for Santaâs eyes and red and white frosting for decor.
