With medical marijuana becoming legal in more states all the time, you’ve probably heard about some of its benefits, including stress relief and pain management. But new research reveals another potential upside to using cannabis products: it may make your sex life better.
- There hasn’t been a lot of research in the field so far, but a new study looks into the influence of cannabis on sexual function and satisfaction. And the results are positive:
- The study finds a connection between using cannabis and having a more satisfying sexual experience.
- More than 70% of participants report increased desire and orgasm intensity.
- Study author Amanda Moser, a research compliance coordinator at the University of Denver, says there are multiple ways it can improve someone’s sex life. Cannabis can make you more interested in having sex, “some concentrates can have an aphrodisiac effect,” she explains. It can also make it easier to orgasm and have more intense orgasms, and for women that can include multiple orgasms.
Experts aren’t surprised by the results of the study. Dr Leah Millheiser, a clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Stanford Medicine says cannabis can increase blood flow, which leads to more sensation and “enhanced orgasmic intensity.”
- For anyone interested in experimenting with cannabis in the bedroom, Moser recommends starting slowly, by using the smallest amount, to see how it works for you.
