If youâre a true crime junkie, thereâs a special job waiting for you.
The Tucson Police Department in Arizona is giving civilians a chance to help.Â
Theyâve opened up a position called âProfessional Staff Investigator.â Lt. Mark Jimenez explains âSince police have been going to job fairs, one of the first questions most people right out of college ask or really anybody is âhow do I sign up to be a detective?â and up until right now itâs been you have to be a police officer, be on for at least 3-years then youâre eligible for the detectives test.â
The job is now open to anyone, but you need an associateâs degree and two years of prior experience to apply.
Individuals can also have a bachelorâs degree or four years of prior experience. Jimenez says âtheyâll go through a 7-week academy and theyâll go through 12 weeks of field training and once theyâre done, their day is going to look very similar to our other detectives.â
The pay is between $21 and $33 an hour. Applications are being taken through July 24th.
