Experts Reveal Blueberries Aren't Actually Blue

You might think blueberries are blue…and apparently, you’d be wrong. In the UK, Radio 5 Live host Rachel Burden shocked the public yesterday by revealing that “blueberries aren't blue. It's a trick of the light." She explained that scientists at the University of Bristol found that the little round superfoods only seem to look blue since the berry’s skin is black and the juice is red.

To make matters more bizarre, the dark blue color we see comes from two extremely thin wax layers that cover the berry and have a microscopic structure that “interferes with light itself and makes it seem blue to the naked eye.” Berry interesting…
