It’s the most wonderful time of the year for many, but as the holidays approach, it seems some folks have a grinchier attitude. While some people can’t wait to deck the halls and love to hear those sleigh bells jingling, others find all the decorating, shopping and gift giving more frazzling than festive. Some parts of the country are definitely more into the holidays than others and a new Christmas Spirit Index reveals where they are.

  • The new study from Preply analyzes Google search data to rank the states with the most and least Christmas spirit.
  • So, which state is the craziest for Christmas? Utah, the home of the Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert and many holiday markets, tops the list.
  • And the state with the least Christmas spirit is Alaska, despite its herds of roaming wild reindeer and picturesque festive landscapes.
  • Other snowy states are also low in the Christmas spirit ranking, with Wyoming, South Dakota and Montana following Alaska.
  • The study also finds the most Santa-skeptic states, based on searches for “Is Santa real.” It turns out, Pennsylvania believes in Santa the least, while Hawaii is the most likely to believe in Santa Claus.
